Just in case you were wondering/didn't know: Legolas Greenleaf was the elven archer in the Fellowship of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This character skin set is styled after the movie version of Legolas.
Included skins are for the:
-face (updated)
-hair (updated)
-body armor
-dark boots
-dark gloves
NOTE: to use these skins, you must make a new character or edit an existing character's data to point to the new skins. This mod does not affect the look of any existing characters.
Included items are:
-Silvan set (body armor, boots, gloves, bow) with new set bonuses
-Silver Leaf Brooch (amulet)
NOTE: I really do not have a solid grasp of what makes an item "balanced" since I do not play-test. These items were made to use the skins I made and not the other way around. But feel free to suggest more balanced modifiers.
Upgrading from the Previous Version:
Dungeon Siege v1.1 is required for the items to work (the previous version did not have this constraint). If you do not wish to upgrade to DSv1.1, you can download the DSv1.0 compatible version of this mod instead (coming soon - does not include the new modifications to these items). Remove the old mod file, legolas_greenleaf.dsres and use the new ones provided in this distribution instead. All template names remain intact so you don't have to change anything about your current character.
Installation:
1. Place the included Legolas.dsres in your "Dungeon SiegeResources" directory (this is most often found in C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesDungeon SiegeResources but may differ depending on where you installed Dungeon Siege on your computer). This file includes all the images and custom item templates.
2. If you want to create a new character with the provided skins, also place the Legolas_MakeNewCharacter.dsres file in the "Dungeon SiegeResources" directory. To cause as few compatibility issues with other mods as possible, this is separate from the above file so that you may deactivate or remove it after creating your character, so that you can run other (skin) mods that don't have this feature.
3. If you don't want to create a new character and only want the items, place the included Legolas_ItemsMap_DSv11.dsmap in your "Dungeon SiegeMaps" directory.
Using the Character Skin:
As mentioned in the NOTE above, you will either need to start a new character, or edit your save or character save file with the new skin names (which are b_c_gah_fb_skin_202 and b_c_gah_fb_hair_202). By "installing" this mod, you are given the option to create a new character with the Legolas skin.
Or, if you know how to edit your character, you can edit the name of the skins for your current character. To do so, you will need two tools (Tank Viewer and Tank Creator, listed in the Tools and & Utilities section of SiegeNetwork.com or directly available at Game-Editing.net). Check out the tutorials on extracting your character's data (http://ds.nivisec.com/tutorials.php?mode=view&name=charedit&pagetype=&full_name=Extracting%20and%20Recompiling%20Your%20Characters%20(By%20Crimson_Phoenix)&page=part1.htm) and modifying your character's data (http://ds.nivisec.com/tutorials.php?mode=view&name=charedit&pagetype=&full_name=Editing%20Your%20Extracted%20party.gas%20File&page=part3.htm). Edit the [skins] block, as listed in the second tutorial with the values desired (in this case: b_c_gah_fb_skin_202 and b_c_gah_fb_hair_202). You'll need to retank the modified data as described in the first tutorial after you're done.
Compatibility:
Should be compatible with all mods except for the ones that add images and skins with the exact same file names. I think that other players must also have the mod for it to work in a MP game, not sure since I haven't tested it.
Future Updates:
As fancy strikes me, I may clean up the skins a bit. Also I was considering adding his silver suit from the Lothlorien scene, brown robe from Rivendell.
Also on the todo list are:
- Aragorn skins (early preview screenshot available at: http://www.siegenetwork.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=1&t=123&st=45#entry2633)
- the one ring
- don't know
...in no particular order.
Thanks to:
- Trailstorm-Radeem for the use of his bazaar map template
- Xaa for the set-item bonus script that I tweaked slightly for this mod. Check out his Learn Skrit and Gas in 30 Days (where this technique is used as an example) tutorials here: http://game-editing.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1531
Redistribution Restrictions:
No other site is authorized to mirror this file at this time. You can freely link to the original download location instead. I take no responsibility for damages caused by any material downloaded elsewhere. If you want to use this in another mod, I would like you to ask me for permission first. It goes without saying that all authors and contributors need to be given credit somewhere for any of their work used in your mod.
