--Cosmetics 2.0 Readme-- Mod by: Aaron 'Jomdom' Ransley Homepage: http://dsc.conflict-imminent.com ------------------------ INSTALLATION: How to: The .dsres file in the .zip archive goes into your Resources directory. If you have installed Cosmetics 1.2 or earlier, please delete the .dsres file from the Resources directory, and extract the newer version from the Cosmetics 2.0 archive. WHAT IT IS: Cosmetics: The 'Cosmetics' line of mods aims to enhance Dungeon Siege with the aid of SiegeFX scripts. SiegeFX is the scripting language that is used to script all of Dungeon Siege's effects. Spell effects, item effects, torches on the walls, the list goes on and on. Version 1.0: Staff Effects: Every single staff in the game, magical or non-magical, now has a clone. These clones can be found everywhere normal staffs are found, and can be identified by the color of their names. To make sure you know when they are dropped in combat, a angelic voice will sound when one is dropped. If you miss the sound, do not fret, as the staffs are marked on the ground by a blue flame. These staffs are dropped as frequently as their normal counterparts, and are also sold at vendors. Version 1.1 Cosmetics 1.0 Included: Cosmetics 1.1 includes all of the content from Cosmetics 1.0. Balance Fix: Fixed some balance issues with a 'special' staff that was included in 1.0. The intelligence requirement was too low for the amount of damage the staff did. New Staffs: Added a few more 'special' staffs to the game for finding. These staffs drop quite rarely, so just keep on looking. They don't any new functionality, instead they are assigned special names and models, with funny, crazy, or just cool effects. Version 1.2 Cosmetics 1.1 Included: Cosmetics 1.2 includes all of the content from Cosmetics 1.1. Staff Fixes: The 'special' staffs added in version 1.1 weren't dropping correctly. has been resolved. The 'Visually Enhanced' staffs have been tweaked; the color of the text has been changed to 'Combat Magic Orange', and the 'Visually Enhanced' description has been tweaked as well. Staff Updates: The 'special' staffs added in version 1.1 have had static modifiers attached to them. They also won't have random modifiers attached to them when they are dropped. The 'special' staffs also cannot be sold at vendors. Version 2.0 Cosmetics 1.2 Included: Cosmetics 2.0 includes all of the content from Cosmetics 1.2. Arrow Tracer Effects:: In place of the simple gray-white streak before, it has been spiced up with particle trails as well as sparks of varying colors. The bolts, trap arrows, and magical arrows all have separate variations in color from the base arrow. Gauntlet Effects: Just as I did with Cosmetics 1.x, all of the base gauntlets were duplicated and assigned special effects. They can be located by their special 'Cosmetics Sparkle' that became famous in Cosmetics 1.x, along with the angelic voice that sounds when a pair of 'Visually Enhanced' gauntlets are dropped. Potion Effects: The normal potion effects have been replaced with new, system easy, effects. This includes effects for drinking, and placing upon the ground. WHAT IS COMING: Tutorials & Community Support With Cosmetics 2.0 behind me, I will be focusing on community support, my web page design skills, and SiegeFX tutorials. The Cosmetics line of mods may or may not continue. I might begin to release smaller effect packs, that are not full blown mods, but instead just effect showcases for the aspiring SiegeFX designer. I enjoyed creating Cosmetics 1.0 and 2.0, and I want to thank you all for your support. EXTRA INFORMATION: Extras: No Copying: If you decide to go ahead and extract the contents of any tanks from the 'Cosmetics' line of mods, please do not copy any text directly from the tanks, or use content from the tanks in any mods you might be working on, and/or releasing. A person recently broke the copyrights of a siegelet, against it's creator's will, and was banned from every single forum in the Gamespy network. I tell you this to show that breaking copyright laws is a VERY serious crime. Issue(s): The only issue so far is this: Equipping a staff while the game is paused causes some effects to not show up. Just un-equip, and re-equip the staff. Fixed. CREDITS: People Who Helped: Icemage: Thanks for all the help, and the custom skrit is just great. It helps me immensely to this day. SvS: Thanks for all your enthusiasm, ideas, and high spirits, you really helped a lot. Also, thanks for the initial help with planning of Cosmetics 2.0. TR: Like I said to SvS above, you also helped alot with the planning of Cosmetics 2.0. Your pioneering of variable passing also helped Cosmetics 2.0's gauntlets effects greatly. All the Other People I Forgot to Mention: You know who you are!
